A 100% Australian Merino wool yarn in a Sport weight. It is soft, springy, and silky smooth. It is soft enough for next to skin wear. It is nice for baby and children’s items. It makes nice hats, scarves, shawls, etc. This would make luxurious socks. One hank is plenty for an adult pair of socks.
It takes less than 100 g to knit this Elizabeth Zimmerman design fom Knitter’s Almanac, Two Needle Almost Seamless Baby Sweater, aka "February Baby Sweater" because it is in the February chapter, Some Baby Things. The sample here is knit from one skein of Classic Merino Sport in Lavander.p>
Hanks are 100 g. which is about 390 yds. Recommended gauge is 6-6 1/2 sts. per inch on #3-4 US needles. For socks I would recommend a gauge of 8 sts. per inch and whatever needles gets you that gauge. I would suggest 2.25mm-2.5mm.
